High Density Tabular Corundum with Low Porosity for Furnaces

Product Overview

HUAO Tabular Alumina is a pure sintered corundum, completely free of additives such as magnesium oxide. The material is fully sintered to achieve complete thermal shrinkage and has a dense and well-developed α-Al₂O₃ crystal structure. It is a white granular or powdery material made by fine grinding, roll forming, and ultra-high temperature sintering of alumina powder, with an Al₂O₃ content exceeding 99.2%.

Key Features

  • Sintered completely without fluxing agents like MgO, eliminating low-melting glass phases to preserve ultimate material refractoriness.
  • Features large, interlocking alpha-Al₂O₃ tabular crystals formed through ultra-high-temperature thermal firing.
  • Achieves a bulk density of ≥ 3.50 g/cm³ and an apparent porosity of ≤ 5.0%, preventing corrosive fluid penetration.
  • Maintained low silica and iron oxide levels protect against high-temperature chemical degradation and matrix softening.

Advantages

  • Exceptional Volume Stability: After high-temperature firing, it exhibits excellent dimensional stability and structural integrity, minimizing thermal stress deformation to the greatest extent possible.
  • Reduced Water Demand in Castables: It has a low water absorption rate, significantly reducing the requirements for mixing water and binder content in the castable formula.
  • Superior Slag & Erosion Resistance: The low apparent porosity and high purity level enhance the resistance to corrosive steel slag and chemical corrosion.
  • Optimized Matrix Fluidity: The regular particle shape and fewer sheet-like particles effectively improve the workability of the castable and the filling density during installation.

Applications

As a cornerstone structural component and additive rich in alumina, it is widely used in high-performance refractory bricks such as alumina magnesia carbon (AMC), magnesia carbon and magnesia spinel composites, as well as integral castables in the steel, casting, ceramic and petrochemical industries. In addition, it plays an indispensable role in the manufacturing of critical functional refractory materials, including blow plug cores, sliding door panels, and induction furnace working linings, which can extend their service life under extreme thermal shock.

Customization & Packaging

Our standard export packaging is designed to withstand long-distance sea freight, ranging from reinforced 25kg double-layer woven bags to 1000kg, 1250kg, or 1350kg large bags equipped with integrated moisture-proof layers. All goods are safely packed on non fumigated wooden pallets that have been fumigated or heat-treated, and fully wrapped in high-pressure stretch packaging to eliminate damage during transportation. In addition, we also provide complete customization services, including neutral packaging, OEM brand logo printing, and customized shipping marks to meet your exact business and regulatory standards.

FAQ

Q1: Are HUAO manufacturing facilities certified under international quality management standards?

Yes, HUAO operates in strict compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certified management systems, enforcing rigorous inspections on every production lot.

Q2: Why is the absence of additives like MgO beneficial for tabular alumina?

Omitting sintering additives prevents the formation of low-melting eutectic phases, ensuring maximum hot strength and refractoriness under extreme thermal loads.

Q3: What are the bulk density and porosity specifications for HUAO Tabular Alumina?

HUAO Tabular Alumina features a bulk density of ≥ 3.50 g/cm³ and an apparent porosity of ≤ 5.0%, ensuring a dense, protective barrier in refractory linings.

Q4: How does tabular alumina improve the installation of refractory castables?

Its low water absorption and regular particle shapes reduce mixing water demands while significantly improving matrix fluidity and packing density.

Q5: Can HUAO provide customized particle sizing for specific customer requirements?

Yes, HUAO offers flexible crushing, screening, and sizing capabilities to supply tailored particle size distributions matching your exact refractory recipe.
