High-Purity White Fused Alumina WFA with Dense Crystalline Structure

Product Description

HUAO White Fused Alumina (WFA) is a high-quality synthetic corundum made by melting high-purity calcined alumina powder in an electric arc furnace at extreme temperatures exceeding 2000 ° C. The fusion resulting from this produces a uniform α-Al₂O₃ crystal structure characterized by extremely high mechanical hardness (Mohs hardness 9.0), high toughness, excellent self sharpening ability, and strong chemical stability.

To accommodate diverse industrial sectors, HUAO supplies two primary categories: Abrasive Grade, tailored for precision blasting, grinding, and polishing, and Refractory Grade, designed for high-temperature furnace linings and monolithic castables.

Key Features

  • Formulated through high-temperature electro-fusion, generating tightly bound crystal grains that guarantee superior structural integrity.
  • The rigid crystal morphology allows angular grains to fracture cleanly under stress, continually exposing fresh, sharp cutting edges during operation.
  • Controlled trace elements (such as Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.08% for particle grades) prevent unwanted chemical reactions and material discoloration.
  • Possesses a fire resistance threshold up to 1850°C and a specific gravity of 3.95 g/cm³, ensuring stability under heavy thermal cycling.

Advantages

  • Maximized Processing Efficiency: The high microhardness and sharp cutting edges optimize the crushing and material removal rates, significantly reducing the cycle time in abrasive applications.
  • Superior Resistance to Thermal Shock: Effectively prevents cracking and structural failure when exposed to rapid temperature fluctuations inside industrial furnaces.
  • Zero-Contamination Batch Purity: Ultra low iron and silicon dioxide content can protect sensitive ceramic formulations and polished surfaces from metal or chemical contamination.
  • Extended Refractory Lifespan: Improve the thermal strength and slag erosion resistance of the overall casting material and furnace lining, and reduce the frequency of overall operation and maintenance.

Applications

Widely utilized as a core structural aggregate and fine matrix filler in high-temperature furnace linings, prefabricated shapes, and monolithic castables across the steel, glass, and ceramic industries, it also serves an essential role in manufacturing high-efficiency bonded and coated abrasives—including grinding wheels, precision polishing compounds, and high-performance sandblasting media engineered for rapid material removal.

Customization & Packaging

Export packaging configurations include reinforced 25 kg double woven bags or 1000 kg / 1250 kg /1350 kg jumbo bags with moisture barrier. All packages are fixed to fumigated or non-fumigated wood and wrapped with stretch wrap to prevent damage during long-distance ocean transportation.

We also support neutral packaging and OEM printing of custom brandmarks and shipping marks. Products and packaging are customized according to customer requirements.

FAQ

Q1: Are HUAO manufacturing facilities certified under international quality management standards?

Yes, HUAO operates in strict compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certified management systems, conducting rigorous inspections on every production lot.

Q2: What is the primary difference between Abrasive Grade and Refractory Grade White Fused Alumina?

Abrasive Grade emphasizes higher purity (Al₂O₃ ≥ 99.4%) and sharp angular toughness for cutting and blasting efficiency, whereas Refractory Grade is optimized for high-temperature thermal stability and volume integrity in furnaces.

Q3: What is the fire resistance limit of HUAO White Fused Alumina?

HUAO White Fused Alumina features a high fire resistance rating of 1850°C, making it exceptionally reliable for extreme thermal environments.

Q4: Why is low Fe₂O₃ content important in white fused alumina?

Maintaining iron oxide at or below 0.08% for particles prevents rust staining during sandblasting and avoids low-melting eutectic phases that weaken high-temperature refractories.

Q5: Can HUAO provide customized particle size distributions for specific customer requirements?

Yes, HUAO offers flexible crushing, screening, and milling capabilities to supply tailored particle sizes and fine mesh powders matching your exact recipe.
